Canadian businesses are urging all levels of government to “quickly align” to fast-track infrastructure approvals, citing “unprecedented pressure” on construction and infrastructure sectors, according to a new KPMG Canada survey. The projects — ranging from improved transportation and port systems to a national digital and energy-agnostic utility corridor — are seen as essential to economic growth, with 90% of surveyed leaders calling for a national infrastructure agenda and 89% deeming Canada’s ports “woefully unproductive.” “The success of these projects will hinge on how they are structured and financed,” said John Cho, KPMG Canada’s national private capital leader.
