Carney government pledges reform to get infrastructure projects approved within one year

The federal government unveiled proposed reforms aimed at accelerating approvals for major infrastructure projects, including pipelines, mines, ports and railways, with a goal of securing federal decisions within one year. Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Dominic LeBlanc said the measures would improve investment certainty and competitiveness by streamlining approvals, allowing parallel reviews, creating preapproved economic zones and simplifying Indigenous consultations through a new “Crown Consultation Hub.”
