Canada, U.A.E. sign defence, energy agreements during crown prince's visit

Canada and the United Arab Emirates signed several agreements aimed at strengthening trade, clean energy investment and diplomatic cooperation during Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s visit to Ottawa on Tuesday. Prime Minister Mark Carney welcomed the crown prince as both countries sought to deepen economic ties following a recently negotiated free trade agreement and a UAE pledge to invest approximately $70 billion in Canada. International Trade Minister Maninder Sidhu said the investments could support mining, logistics, energy and digital technology, while emphasizing that human rights remain a priority in Canada’s relationship with the UAE.
