What would a Canada-EU energy alliance look like?
Canada could strengthen Europe’s energy security through closer trade ties, but experts say the opportunity extends beyond shipping Canadian oil and liquefied natural gas directly across the Atlantic. With limited East Coast export infrastructure, Canada could use LNG swaps and global supply reshuffling in the short term, while longer-term opportunities include hydrogen, biofuels, uranium and critical minerals such as lithium, copper and nickel, CP reported. Experts say Asia remains a more established market for Canadian energy exports, but Europe’s shift toward electrification and reduced reliance on Russian supplies could create significant opportunities for Canadian resources and technology.
