Canada is at “yet another nuclear crossroad,” as Alberta’s public engagement process marks “a turning point” in the country’s energy conversation, joining Ontario and New Brunswick in considering nuclear energy for a pan-Canadian strategy that is “clean, secure, and affordable,” writes former Conservative minister Tony Clement. The debate now focuses on Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), which Clement says offer “new flexibility to Canada’s nuclear story” and could allow the country to “set the global standard” if executed with urgency.
