Bay Street backs Canada’s AI strategy, but warns the devilis in the details
The Logic asked a number of business leaders what their take was on the federal government’s AI strategy with much of corporate Canada broadly welcoming it. This includes investments in AI infrastructure, a sovereign supercomputer and funding to support technology firms and small-business adoption, while industry leaders stress that success will depend on rapid execution and effective governance. However, business and legal experts warn that the strategy lacks detail on key issues such as AI safety enforcement, privacy legislation, taxation and national security rules, leaving uncertainty about how the government’s ambitious goals will be implemented.
