Premiers press for Carney meeting to plan next steps in tariff fight

Premiers are urging Prime Minister Mark Carney to convene a First Ministers’ meeting to discuss stalled trade talks with the United States. “What’s the path forward here with the United States of America and engaging with the Trump administration? I think it’d be great for not just premiers, but for every Canadian to hear,” said Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew, echoing calls from Ontario’s Doug Ford and several others. PMO spokesperson Gabriel Brunet said the Prime Minister “will continue with constructive engagement with provincial and territorial governments throughout the days and weeks ahead.”
