The Canadian Press: Ottawa must pass law revoking digital service tax before refunds are issued, CRA says

Though Canada dropped the digital services tax to resume trade negotiations with the United States, pre-collected payments will not be refunded to tech companies until Ottawa passes new legislation, says the Canada Revenue Agency. Parliament, which will not return until September 15, will need to formally pass legislation to revoke the tax before the CRA can issue refunds. The CRA confirmed the agency collected some revenue from the tax before its reversal but did not cite an amount.
