Business leaders strongly support tax reform ahead of 2026 budget, KPMG survey finds

Nearly nine in 10 Canadian business leaders support a comprehensive overhaul of the country’s tax system to boost economic growth and investment, according to a KPMG survey released ahead of the 2026 federal budget. The survey of 346 business owners and decision-makers found strong support for investment incentives, a simpler and more competitive tax system, and lower personal and corporate taxes. While the federal government has recently announced targeted tax measures, KPMG says businesses want broader reforms, though major changes are unlikely in the upcoming budget as Ottawa remains focused on trade tensions with the United States.
